Blue-Footed Boobies are carnivores. In the Galapagos they eat mostly sardines, a type of squid, and can catch flying fish mid-jump. During the day Blue-Footed Booby’s fly far out to sea, sometimes in groups. They scan the ocean for small schools of fish and other prey. When they find a satisfactory opportunity, they fold their wings back and dive into the water from as high as 80 feet, and can hit the water going as fast as 60 mph, diving as deep as 80 feet. They can also dive from a sitting position on the surface.
The First five weeks the student’s learn life saving, knot tying, underwater knot tying, basic first aid, and surf passages in small inflatable boats. Along with this is a 50-yard underwater swim, which must be completed and the students are often revived when they pass out. Also throughout out the whole six months of BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition School), the Seal Teams go through many torturous events and lessons. One of these being surf torture. This is where the entire class must wade into the surf zone to their waistline, then sit down with arms linked. Just to let you know the water in Coronado, California never gets above sixty-eight degrees during the summer and fifty-eight degrees during the winter. There the men with linked arms will sit there for hours at a time, soon the cold sucks out all of their body warmth and the whole class is shivering in unison as the waves crash over there heads.

Personal Watercrafts or "jet skis" are basically Personal Watercraft (PWC) are basically small inboard boats able to travel at high speeds due to large amounts of power and very light weight. Alomst all PWC's are under 600 lbs and most of todays PWC's have at least 90 hp.Not only are PWC's some of the fastest water vehicles they are also some of the most maneuverable water vehicles. This is because PWC's propultion is based on a jet that also is it's turning mechanism. When the driver turns the handlebars the jet (via cables) turns in the direction of the handlebars so the stern is pushed in the opposite direction. This allows the driver to turn at a much tighter angle than traditional boats with keels and rudders.The main drawback to this maneuverability is the fact that if there is no thrust coming from the engine the ability to turn is effictively zero meaning that anytime the driver presses the kill switch (a large red button) they lose all ability to steer. This is extremely dangerous whenever an inexperienced person may drive the PWC back to dock or into shore. PWC's have no brakes and have no ablilty to stop other than turning around. They have an extremely efficient ability to hydroplane (when most of the PWC is above water) and it takes most PWC's a few hundred feet to come to a stop after being at full throttle. This is because 600 lbs + a rider is traveling at a very high speed with only minimal friction to slow them down (since PWC's are made to travel with very little friction).

Swimming is composed of many different strokes, one of them being the front crawl, also known as the freestyle. This stroke is very simple and good for swimmers that are just starting. The leg kick requires a simple flutter kick while the legs are going in an interchanging order. The knees are a little bent with the feet and ankles loosened. In order to have a good forward momentum, the swimmer should highlight the down-kick more. While using the changing windmill motion between right and left arm, the hands should be cupped with relaxed wrists and hands. Another key fact for the arm stroke is the pulling arms underwater should be in an “S” pattern and the arms must pull the water with equal power and arm reach. This will guarantee the swimmer that they’re going in a straight line. For the body positioning, the freestyle requires the swimmer to twist on the long-axis, from the head down to the toe, of the body. Therefore the front crawl is known as a long-axis stroke. Divers cannot put the equipment on and immediately dive in. Before diving there are a series of procedures the diver and their partners must do before going down. In addition, the further down the diver dives the more pressure pressing down on the diver which lessens the amount of oxygen in the scuba tank. Therefore, the further down the diver dives the less time the diver can spend on the bottom. But now, by far the largest group of divers is “Recreational Divers”. These dives are practiced at depths of less than 130 feet, from these depths, divers can make a straight ascent to the surface. Diving beyond this limit requires advanced training. Also, when diving the diver must take into account the amount of time spent descending and ascending in the water. If the diver descends too quickly the pressure can deflate their lungs and cause problems. Similarly, if they ascend too quickly nitrogen bubbles can form under the diver’s skin causing bends or decompression sickness. This sickness can be extremely harmful and possibly fatal. Lastly, a dive watch or computer is needed to calculate the amount of oxygen left in their tank and the depth. Dive computers help the divers be aware of their conditions and keep them

Swimming has taken on many forms since that time period some reasons include recreationally, utilitarian, combat, scuba diving, swimming races, marathon swimming, and water polo and diving. Recreational swimming has been around since the Greeks and Romans. Young children often learn to swim in a recreational setting with instructors. The water is an unsafe place for some. Swimming in open water occasionally ends in drowning. Since the nineteenth century, swimmers have turned to a supervised area for a safer environment. When learning to swim in North America, younger kids are usually taught “freestyle” or the crawl, while breaststroke is taught in Europe and Asia (MLA 7th Edition).
The butterfly stroke is the first stroke of the individually medley event. The butterfly stroke takes place at the beginning of the race and requires the swimmer to start from the starting block. The swimmers start consists of a streamlined body position for maximum entry speed and is followed by a two leg, simultaneous kick that begins from the hips in a whip fashion that follows through to the toes. This kick is most like the movement that a dolphin uses to propel them through the water. Because of the similarity of the movement, the kick is called the dolphin kick. The kick is combined with a simultaneous arm pull that starts with the arms stretch out in front of the swimmer. Both arms pull through the water together for maximum power. The arms sweep downwards towards the bottom of the pool creating a 90-degree angle in the elbow. Then the arms sweep past the ribs and end at the hips. The palms are in an upward position to the surface of the water. The power from the stroke lifts the swimmers shoulders to the surface to maximize the opportunity for a breath.
