One of many Famous poems from William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet is a poem filled with distance between two families and two helpless teenagers named Romeo and Juliet. These two teenagers fall in love, but Juliet’s Family are Capulet’s and Romeo’s Family are Montague. There love is nearly impossible for them. Unless someone helps her, The Nurse, the woman who raised Juliet since birth lets her get away with marrying the enemy. Maybe she is the one to blame for all the deaths that happened by letting two teenagers fall in love.

The Nurse returns and tells Juliet the young man’s name is Romeo, the only son of her worst enemy, The Montague. Juliet in despair calls to Romeo and telling him to change his name and she will send someone to find him tomorrow. Juliet send the Nurse to fetch him for her, the Nurse does so. The Nurse speaks to him warning him “ If you lead her into a fool’s Paradise… It would be an outrage crime” meaning bad things would come his way. She lets him be with Juliet while she watches to see when Lady Capulet would come to see Juliet. The Nurse disobeys the lady’s rules and lets Juliet be with the son of the enemy. She clearly doesn’t know whom to listen to, but she does listen to Juliet’s commands to help her fall in love with Romeo. The Nurse knows that Romeo had killed Juliet’s cousin and so did Juliet. But through both there blindness they could not see he was a murderer. Still the Nurse did not do anything to stop Romeo from making Juliet fall in love with her. This shows that the nurse is really more like a maternal figure in Juliet’s life. Juliet trusts the Nurse and turns to her for support in times of need, especially after the dispute with her father about marriage. Juliet was upset about the arranged marriage, and she was already married to Romeo, so after her parents left she turned to the nurse for guidance. “O God!-O Nurse, how shall this be prevented?/ My husband is on earth, my faith in heaven…”(Ⅲ,ⅴ,205-206). Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, is a story of two young lovers. These two hearts, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, belong to feuding families. The family feud causes them to keep their love a secret and therefore only Romeo, Juliet, Benvolio, the Nurse and Friar Lawrence know of their love. Romeo and Juliet are able to look past the feud and let themselves fall in mad love with the other. They let themselves do almost anything for the other and at times it seems like too much to do, even for the one they love.

The Nurse disregards Juliet’s feelings for Romeo and takes the easy option, telling her to marry Paris, “I think you are happy in this second match, for it excels your first”. Juliet despises the Nurse for saying this.
Nurse is willing to go to certain extents to help Juliet because she is like a daughter to her. She brainstorms the plan so the two young lovers can be together. Also, her actions improve the overall tale. “This afternoon, sir,” he said. Well, she shall be there” (II).
The Nurse was also responsible for the tragic ending of the play. When Romeo and Juliet met, the Nurse became their messenger. She helped them be together even though she knew Romeo was a Montague and that Juliet's family would disapprove. The Nurse brought news to Juliet from Romeo telling her to sneak out so they could get married. She helped Juliet get out of her house by bringing her a rope ladder to climb off her balcony with and telling her parents that she went to shrift. The Nurse kept Romeo and Juliet's marriage a secret from the families. When Juliet's parents said she should marry Paris, the Nurse agreed and said that Juliet should forget about Romeo because he was in Mantua. With the Nurse no longer on her side she had no one to help her and back her up but the Friar. In this way she had a large impact on the terrible ending of Romeo and Juliet.

Nurse was a fickle character, her changeability was significant in partly causing Juliet’s pseudo death. Juliet confided in Nurse when she met Romeo. Nurse not only encouraged the marriage, but went as far as arranging it. However, when Capulet made plans for Juliet to marry Paris, Nurse told Juliet that Paris was better for her.
She arranges the wedding of Juliet, exiting the Capulet household to locate Romeo to inform him about “[proposing] to [Juliet], which [she thought was] the gentlemanly thing to do”. Now that the two ‘star-crossed’ lovers were married, their bond in the sense of love was absolutely unbreakable, introducing more unique actions they would commit simply to physically be near each other. She was constantly supportive of Juliet’s feelings and strived to “find Romeo To comfort [her]” whenever they were separated due to the town’s banishing of Romeo. Coordinating the unity of Romeo and Juliet under the circumstances of two families possessing an immortal hatred for each other wielded many risks and potential sacrifices for the Nurse. The risk resides within her efforts to support Juliet in pursuing a relationship with Romeo and the irony of the second quote. Her motive to find Romeo was simply for the sake of “comforting” Juliet, however taking the risk of having her cling to this long distant relationship resulted in an abundance of tragedies rather than the long awaited comfort. She risked her connection with the Capulet family, as well as her personal relationship with Juliet. When Juliet arrives Romeo tells her to describe her love but Juliet Claims her love is indescribable. The couple then are officially married by Friar Lawrence. As two kinsmen of the Montague family walk, Benvolio and Mercutio, they encounter Tybalt and other members of the Capulet family. Romeo then appears and Tybalt attempts to provoke Romeo to fight but Romeo refuses due to the fact he is married to Juliet and now a kinsman of Tybalt. Enraged by Romeos refusal to fight, Mercutio fights Tybalt and is killed. After the death of his kinsman, Romeo becomes enraged and fights and kills Tybalt. The Prince also enraged, exiles Romeo from Verona and if seen within the city, Romeo is to be killed. The nurse returns with the news that Romeo has killed Tybalt and been exiled from Verona. Juliet, although saddened by the death of Tybalt, is devastated by the exile of her love, Romeo. The nurse gives Juliet hope by telling her that she knows where Romeo is hiding and will get him to consummate their wedding that same night. Juliet gives the nurse a ring to give to Romeo to remind him of her love. Romeo is notified by Friar Lawrence about him being exiled from Verona. Romeo says exile is the worst thing that could happen since he now is forbidden from seeing Juliet. The nurse then appears and tells Romeo that he must be ready to attend to Juliet later in the evening and must leave the city of Verona before

Juliet took this advice by staying with Romeo that led to more conflict thus leading to Juliet’s death. Therefor, the nurse is once again responsible for Juliet’s death.
