Over the past decade, high school students have not been partaking in extracurricular activities. Some believe the reason has mostly to do with the development of easily accessible video games. Those who have previously taken part in a sport in high school have said that more students should take part in sports. Some believe they have strong reasons that students should do sports. These reasons include physical, mental, and life skills, along with some lesser ones.
A large amount of the american population strongly feel that school athletics teaches their children valuable life skills. If one is in a team sport, they might pick up the skill of leadership. In the future, they could use this knowledge to become a manager of a business. They would have to learn personal hygiene to keep themselves looking and smelling good. Sports such as track and field, football, and wrestling can help increase strength. Activities like soccer, track, and cross country help increase speed. Some sports improve an athletes agility such as cheer leading and other forms of gymnastics. Continuous workout can help form a more appealing appearance of the body. Sadly, some people would make great athletes, but they waste their talent playing video games, or doing nothing at all. Sports are also thought to help young student’s attitude in many ways. The child might not feel as sleepy, due to the fact they are using energy, and then eating more food. This might also persuade them to make healthier eating choices. All sports can help release anger that has acuminated from their day-to-day life. Athletics also teaches young minds the skill of working with other people, which those who are not in a sport may lack in.
