The American Dream

Since the formation of the United States of America, the American Dream has influenced every singles citizen, but what is the American Dream: Is it wealth? Power? Maybe working hard to support yourself or your family? All these things are very important to many different people, but to me the American Dream is trying your best to make a difference for good in others lives.
Trying your best to make a difference for good in others lives, is not a new concept in the American Dream, in fact it has been around since the beginning, why? Because people want to help others create a better life for themselves who are not as fortunate as them. For example, Harriet Tubman, one of the most famous African-American conductors of the Underground Railroad, once said “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” Harriet Tubman is such a good example of working hard to attain your dreams, even when you may encounter stumbling blocks in your path that block your way. …show more content…

Even though Mandela is not an American he still exemplifies many qualities of the American Dream which include kindness, willingness to work for your goals, and courage. The first black head of state and the first elected in a representative democratic election, Nelson Mandela was put into jail as a young man because of his position as the leader in an uprising against the government; but, Mandela did not let this get him down, after being released from prison Nelson Mandela decided to let go of the hate he had had for the men that had caused him so much pain.
