The Greatest Prime Minister of Canada

Entirely throughout this presentation, I willplacek them and focus mostly on their past achievements, leadership qualities and failures and faults within the office. I want to use a few of the great prime ministers instead of just one. I chose to do these specific politicians was because they led Canada to be what it is today, in other words a “better Canada”.

So first I want to start with Sir John A. Macdonald. JAM was the first prime minister of Canada. He basically laid down the foundations for Canada. JAM built and guided a successful national government of the new Dominion. He also negotiated his way through the entries of a few provinces. JAM was considered to be one of the greatest prime ministers of Canada because he shaped Canada with the foundation to make it into a better country for the future.

Secondly, I choose Sir Wilfrid Laurier since he was the Longest-serving member of Parliament (45 years, including 15 years as prime minister, and another 13 as leader of the Opposition.) He presided over the entry of Saskatchewan and Alberta into the Canadian Confederation. Wilfred recruited immigrants to the West He established the Departments of Labor and External Affairs. Laurier spent much of his time in office trying to balance the interests of the French and English in Canada. In addition, Laurier was also well known for his ability to compromise.

Pearson was another Great prime minister because he was able to achieve the Nobel Peace prize, he was well aware of world conditions and work tirelessly on behalf of peace. He sent Canadian troops on peacekeeping missions to help achieve the status of world peace.

Fourthly, I choose John Diefenbaker as he won a Commons seat in the Opposition in 1940. He was the elected leader of the Opposition, 1956-1957. Won a minority government, 1957.
Diefenbaker appointed Ellen Fairclough as Canada’s first female Cabinet Minister, 1957.
He won the majority government with the greatest number of seats in Canadian history, and 1958. John appointed James Gladstone as Canada’s first Aboriginal senator, 1958. He passed the Canadian Bill of Rights, 1960. He passed the Royal Commission on Health Services, 1961. John also created the Agricultural Rehabilitation and Development Act, 1961. He reduced to a minority government, 1962. Lastly, he created the National Productivity Council (Economic Council of Canada), 1963.
