The world around me felt dark and bitter. Everything appeared to be draped in black. The trees were black, the ground was black, the water rushing by me was black. Even the sky on this blistering cold night was black. The only light that made my eyes able to see the outlines of the dark things about came from the half hidden moon. I hurriedly jogged through the forest trying not to hit into anything. At least my falcon Goostalf seemed to know where he was going. She pulled me with her again and put me through the door way of my bed room. When I stumbled through the door way and was suddenly grasped by the throat. In a sudden rage my dad yelled “You ungrateful little girl, ever since you got that bird you have been rude, isolated, and hateful! I should have killed the bird the day you found it!” Right as I almost lost my breath I was suddenly released. As I lay on the ground gasping for breath I saw Goostalf attacking my parents. I saw my dad lounge at me and I scrambled out of his grasp and ran for the door. I charged out the front door and into the woods. I ran as fast as my legs would take me. Then I suddenly stopped, Goostalf! Oh no I had forgotten Goostalf. I couldn’t believe I had left him like that after he saved my life. I was about to turn around when I heard him yell, “Here!” “Oh you scared me! I’m so glad you’re alive!” I exclaimed, happy to see him. “Hurry we have to go I saw your dad running out the door after me” I started off again, running at full speed. I am now backing to where I started in my story. After a while of silence I finally stopped and collapsed on the ground, “I can’t go any further!” I said as I sat trying to catch my breath.
