It all started on July 6, 1946 in New Haven, Connecticut when Barbara and George H. W. Bush had their eldest son, George Walker Bush. Bush has 5 siblings, John, Marvin, Neil, and Dorothy. He also had a younger sister, Robin, who died from Leukemia at age 3. In September, 1964 Bush entered Yale under a history major, and instantly became very popular. He held many responsibilities at Yale, Bush was the president of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and was a part of the secretive Skull and Bones society, like his father and grandfather before him.On May 27,1968 Bush joined the 147th Fighter Interceptor Group of the Texas Air National Guard, during the Vietnam War. George W. Bush was honorably discharged from the National Guard on October 1, 1973. After his release from service, Bush began doing a lot of volunteer work and becoming more politically involved. As a result of George W. Bush’s dedication, hard work, and compassion, he has become a role model to many people. (add about 9/11 patriots act/ natural disasters) In 2000, Bush and his running mate, Dick Cheney, ran against Al Gore, a former Vice President. Bush and his running mate lost the popular vote by 0.5%, but won the electoral votes by a margin of 271-266. Shortly after taking term, the whole world was shook when two planes were flown into The World Trade Center in New York. On September 11, 2001, two planes hit the world trade center, one hit the pentagon and the fourth crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. More than 3,000 people died that day including over 400 police and firefighters. During this event George W. Bush was reading to a class at Emma E. Brooker Elementary School in Sarasota, Florida.
