For as long as I can remember, I have always felt for people even if I don’t know them personally. That’s why my dream job is to become a forensic pathologist so that I can help families that are affected by drug overdoses or other unfortunate deaths. Most often, people aren’t familiar with that career when I describe it to them, which is exactly why I want to go into it.
There’s a high demand for forensic pathologists because most people are not willing to go through the demanding schooling for it, but I believe that with my passion, I can push through. With the opioid epidemic in Cleveland right now, so many people are silently affected and I absolutely hate to sit around and do nothing. So far I’m accepted to 3 universities in Ohio, and I plan on majoring in neuroscience and pre-medicine. Not only do I love forensic science, but

I’m also very intrigued by the brain and human behavior. A degree in neuroscience allows me to study a fascinating subject that is still science-centered so that I will be more prepared for studying medicine in graduate school. I am very excited about my future, but the tuition for the years of schooling ahead of me and my family situation is certainly a set back. When I was 9 years old, my loving father passed away after suffering seizures at night for months prior as well as enduring other medical issues.
While I was confused and crushed at the time, I feel that it has made me stronger since I’ve now accepted that he is gone. Because his death was unexpected, my mother wasn’t prepared for what was to come. I have three siblings, but my mother is wise with her money and was independent enough to push through the tough times. That doesn’t mean money isn’t an issue anymore, though. One of my sisters sufferers social and learning disabilities which make her incapable of supporting herself, so she’s living at home at age 24. Since my dad’s death, I’ve felt a responsibility to be as mature and low-maintenance as possible to make my mom’s life easier so she would be able to focus on her kids that needed the most help. I still have aspirations and goals of my own and I wish to be able to pursue them without worry that I’d be a burden to my mom. I am very excited about my future and feel that with the opportunity your scholarship will provide, I can contribute my curiosity to the world and help
others. Though I have the moral support of my family and friends, it’s not quite enough to make my dream come true. I hope that your foundation can help me reach this dream by awarding me your scholarship, and I’m forever grateful to find opportunities given by organizations like yours.
I was sitting in the old rickety chair that looked as if it had been there for five years. The smell of gunpowder hung in the morning air as I leaned over the rifle rest. My finger wrapped around the trigger as my eye focused through the scope of my grandfather’s Springfield ’03. I took a deep breath and let half out. My finger tightened on the trigger as I awaited the recoil and crack of the gunpowder igniting. Finally, when my finger’s pull was enough to move the trigger, the gun went off. Moments like this are why I love shooting guns.
Halfway through dinner I decided to tell them. “That 's great baby, you know we support you no matter what,” says my Mom. As I bring out the numbers for college tuition, their faces seem to changed from excited to nervous. “I cannot afford that, honey,” says my Dad quietly, being unemployed then. That upset me because I was determined to follow my dreams.
The sudden or unexplained death of a person has a huge impact on families and friends of the deceased, and it places a huge role of responsibility on the medical examiner to answer questions which may provide closure. Interaction with the loved ones of the deceased is a delicate matter that must be dealt with calmly and professionally. Generally, medical examiners are overachievers, objective, analytical, and optimistic. “I can’t do anything for the deceased, they’re gone. But if I can do anything for the family, I will.” (www.voxmagazine.com)
She was my only support system and took on the responsibility of caring, disciplining, and raising me in ways that my mother could not. My older sister ensured that I completed my tasks at school and at home. Being only a year apart and aware that I was growing up right beside her, she made it her priority to do her best academically to demonstrate the importance of education[an aspect that we were not raised to value]. She was my inspiration to become college bound and to take advantage of the resources at my school. I learned how to be resourceful and utilize the outside programs to improve my academic performance to compensate for my high school’s inadequacy. The hardworking qualities that have been instilled in me by my older sister have helped me get into UCLA, but witnessing my mother struggle is what further motivates me to obtain a college
Forensic anthropology is going to be useful in this profession because I will be able to determine things by analyzing the victim’s bones not just by looking at the soft tissue or what appears on the surface. The tools I will learn with this minor are going to set me apart from other applicants. They will bring a whole new set of skills to the table that maybe someone else cannot offer. Such as analyzing the bugs that are found on the body to help determine time of
I know that through my hard work and dedication I can make my goals a reality. However, it may not be possible without these Scholarships. While my parents will help me in any way they can, I am hoping that my hard work and dedication to my studies pays off. I am a very self-driven individual who will accomplish any goal I set my mind on achieving. I am also aware of how without scholarships I may face a financial setback. I am hoping that through the help of scholarships I will be able to achieve all my goals in a timely
Getting this scholarship was my jump start to furthering my education and I knew from there that I was going to prove statistics wrong. I knew I was going to college and that things were going to be different for me and I was going to make a difference. I won’t be the black kid who drops out of school, because my education is too important to
Halfway through my sophomore year, my mom ran into some financial troubles. We had no choice, but to move away from my high school, and move in with my grandparents. After we moved, she didn’t have a job for over a year. I really didn’t want to switch schools. I was comfortable at my school and with my friends. My mother was willing to let me continue going there, even after we moved. I drove 30 minutes, everyday so I could go to school. It wasn’t easy, but it’s been worth it. I had to get up even earlier, I
Crime scene investigators, also known as CSIs, have played an essential role in protecting citizens, by proving who is guilty, and who is innocent. CSIs use a large amount of Science and Math skills to solve crimes, resulting in a decent income. They are specialized in forensic science in order to examine crime scenes and recover important evidence (Career Cruising).
Forensic scientists work in labs where they examine, identify, and interpret evidence collected in crime scenes. Crime scene investigators collect evidence and pass it to a forensic scientist who uses the items in numerous ways to help catch criminals. Forensic scientists must also record the evidence and any tests ran on it in detail to prove the truth in court. A forensic scientist also has to be able to present his or her physical evidence verbally in court, so a strong communication background is important.
Imagine pulling into your driveway and seeing your neighbor’s house surrounded by police, flashing lights, and caution tape with bodies covered in white sheet on the lawn. It was a drive by shooting. Next, a van pulls up and a Criminal Investigator steps out and starts assessing the crime scene. She begins taking photos, marking shell casings, packaging evidence, documenting tire treads on the pavement and inspecting and collecting DNA evidence from the bodies. Criminal Investigators are highly trained college graduates that are a vital part of bringing criminals to justice.
I, Sandeep Singh, will be an excellent candidate for the Maple Heights Teachers’ Association Laptop Scholarship. I will be attending Kent State University and majoring in Biology and minoring in Website Design. I plan on getting a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Kent State University, then attending Ohio State University for medical school. Afterwards, I plan on specializing in Cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic. After establishing myself in my career as a Cardiovascular surgeon I plan on opening up my own practice in both the United States of America, and India. My uncle recently passed away due to heart problems. I saw the impact his death had on my family, and I do not want a death that could have been avoided to happen to another family.
I am compelled to help others in need. Mentally, I know it is not feasible to help everyone, but that does not stop me from trying. In addition, when my clients are in pain, I am also hurt because I have emotionally committed myself to each one of them. I must learn to establish borders to emotionally separate myself from my clients and their problems. I can be compassionate and empathize, but when my workday ends, it ends, and my personal life begins.
I never once in my life sat down with myself and really thought about what my parents had to go through and all the sacrifices they had to make in order to ensure that I have a better life and a brighter future. Thinking back now, the frustration I feel eats away at me constantly that I was not more thankful and did not do more to help. This is most definitely a lesson that is learned better late than never. Going forward now I have three main focuses for when I enter college, the first is undoubtedly God and my spiritual life, which forced me to have this revelation. The second focus has to be my family, which I appreciate and value more than ever now. The final focus I have, but certainly not the least, is to be successful in my endeavors throughout college. Seeing how much my parents cared for me by seeing them work as hard as they could just so my siblings and I could live a better life gives me all the motivation in the world to work as hard as I can to not only give back to them, but for my future children to live an even better life than I
I learned that life is going to throw you challenges and will attempt to set us back from our goals. Anybody can achieve any goal they set their minds to with hard work and determination. With my learning disability, I worked harder than those who were not limited in their strengths, but this turned out to be my ultimate strength. Working hard will only help you achieve in life. I view effort and trying as keys to success. I am a student diagnosed with a learning disability associated with my written expression, writing to your foundation because I never let a setback stop me from achieving my goals. I believe that I have an extraordinary message for others. I feel if I were the recipient for your scholarship it would definitely push me significantly closer to my goals coming from a son of a hard working single mother that I wish to give back what she has given
