I was once driving a yellow Cadillac when I notice a hollowing collie. When I first noticed it I thought he was hurt so I pulled over. When I got out the car I instantly started smelling a smoke smell. As I approached the dog he ran off into the woods. I started chasing after him when I realized the forest was on fire. I had no idea what to do, so I then ran back to my Cadillac and dialed 911. I told them where I was and that we needed help immediately. They then arrived 10 minutes later. The fire was huge, I don't know how I didn't see it. The flames were reaching super high in the sky. As it started spreading the heat started getting hotter. The collie then ran towards me and I put him in my Cadillac so he wouldn't get hurt. The dog was about 2 years old, and his fur was so soft. I felt horrible for him because I didn't know if his owner was in the fire. …show more content…

I was looking at all of the ads and noticed someone was missing a diamond necklace. I then called the number and they told me they seen a face in the window and then the guy ran out the barbershop with the necklace. They quickly rushed in the barber shop and called the police. The necklace was worth 12,000 dollars. The guy who they seen through the window was a very tall young white man. The guy was also very skinny. We never expected it to happen in this barbershop, because we were in a good part of town. That goes to show you can never leave anything lying around. Someone can easily take all of your belongings with no sympathy. The world is getting crazy. You can't trust anyone
The officers began to search the apartment without a warrant. As the officers continued searching, one of them (Officer Nelson) found some expensive stereo equipment. The officer had a hunch that the equipment was stolen, so he moved the stereos to record the serial numbers. He then called police headquarters and it was confirmed that indeed the stereo equipment had been stolen. The officers then seized the stereo equipment.
The book “Fahrenheit 451,” by Ray Bradbury, is about a man, Guy Montag, who has a job burning books. When he realizes how twisted the world he lives in is, he tries to change it, although he doesn’t really succeed. In the novel, the author uses the metaphor of fire to make the narrative more interesting. When the author uses a fire metaphor, it often seems very exciting and dramatic. Additionally, they are used to show emotion. The metaphors also make the novel feel more violent.
Disasters can be so impactful; some can forever change the course of history. While many at the time thought this story would soon pass, and with it all the potential bad publicity, the story of the Triangle fire spread quickly, and outraged many people. On a beautiful spring day in March 1911 when 146 workers lost their lives, a fire would prove it could do what years of reformers had failed to do, get the government on the side of the workers. I would argue that the fire largely impacted the country. Specifically, the Triangle Fire ended up changing New York’s interconnected political and economic scene, and spurred on the creation of stricter safety codes. For the first time owners would hold responsibility for their actions. Max Blanck and Isaac Harris; being indicted for manslaughter was proof of this. Social change seemed to be spurred as well; the general public and newspapers would come back the workers of New York. Large institutions would suffer as well. Tammany Hall would be feared less and less by waves of new immigrants. The largest change brought about by the blaze would be legislation. Twenty-five bills, recasting the labor laws of the state
A year before my encounter, my sister Faith and I were behind our house about a mile deep into the woods. We were playing hide and go seek, and iit was my turn to find her! I couldn’t find her anywhere and then thats when I saw the bush. It looked trampled so I ran to it, only to find my twelve year old sister lying in the snow in a puddle of her own blood. Her throat was ripped open, it looked like a wild animal had taken a bite out of her.
Firefighters are humans whose job are to stop a fire from houses buildings stores schools and etc. but sadly in the society of 451 it’s not like that. You create the fire. As a firefighter in the society of 451, Montag a firefighter unsure about his feelings is questioning himself. If what he is doing is right. Is Montag feeling guilty for everything he has done? The government is so strict about the rule that they will do anything to remove books and take away everyone knowledge. The government will do anything to burn books.
July through October only had a few showers that did not contain much water, and even when it did rain, it flooded. They were going through a very long drought, and they had already had a fire the night before and the blaze destroyed four blocks. The wind wasn’t on their side either. The wind was rushing up from the south east, and the gust of wind spread the fire from building to building in a matter of seconds. The fire alarms were not helpful either, because many of them were very hard to get to. And of course back then, at that time, there were no phones! When William Lee raced to the fire alarm at Gull’s drug store the “ fire was only 15 minutes old. What followed was a series of fatal errors that set the fire free and doomed the city of Chicago to a fiery
I started looking around and then I saw something out of the corner of my eye, a simple, brown trailer. I yelled “Guys there’s a trailer over there. It might have some stuff in it to help us.” They got up and we started running in the direction of the trailer. When we got there we realized it was locked.
It's is still unknown to exactly what caused this fire to start. Due to the ground being dry and the houses and building being constructed of wood, the fire consumed the area rapidly. When the fire broke out and fire fighters were dispatched they were sent to a different location by accident. Fire fights that arrived were exhausted from a large fire from the previous day. The fire had consumed the city and was so wide spread the firefighters were unable to control the fire.
“Ah! Somebody call the police this guy just stole my purse!” a random woman screamed. As I remembered, my cousin works for the police at Pembroke Pines, so I called her and told her to come very fast; there was burglary going on. She got the there in less than a second. Everything happened very quickly; she got the burglar and gave the woman her purse back.
Fire is also referenced throughout the book as a symbol of destruction, connecting to the theme of change, but when preventing change. When one thinks of fire, they think of destruction that is the meaning conveyed from the man-made fire in the book. The fire in the society is used to burn books but on another level, it is linked to the destructive ways of the society. When looking at the women in his society, Montag sees “these women twisting in their chairs under his gaze, lighting cigarettes, blowing smoke, touching their sun-fired hair and examining their blazing fingernails as if they had caught fire from his look. Their faces grew haunted with silence” (Bradbury 92). The fire represents how the ways of the society are killing its citizens,
When I was seventeen years old and going into my senior year of high school I was given the opportunity to go on a trip to Spain with my school. It was a two week trip during the summer, visiting different cities and historical sites throughout the country. While we where there we went to see a Flamenco dance show in Seville which is about an hour and a half outside of Madrid, the city where we were staying. It was a Wednesday around one o’clock when we left and the ride up there was really beautiful. We were driving through the country side passing some small villages on the side of the road. We arrived there around 3:30 and sat down for the show. It was really cool they had all the ladies with their bright dresses and fruit in their hair dance around while we ate lunch. And the show ended around five and we started to head home. On the way home we were driving through the countryside along side a small village when all of a sudden we heard a loud bang and the bus started slowing down. After a couple of ...
In the book “The Fire Next Time” by James Baldwin, there are many instances in which he uses figurative language to get his point across. This book was Baldwin's reaction to the social and racial shamefulness he saw in America. The use of figurative language allows for a more vivid picture for the audience to visualize in their minds and grasp. Many times Baldwin uses figurative language to create a picture of a concept or opinion of his and instill what he believes it looks or feels like into it. Throughout the writing the author superbly distinguishes that love, not fear, converges a society.
A little later that night someone entered my garage, which was so conveniently unlocked. They first rummaged through my dad’s van outside and I think they stole his coat, a tape and a few rolls of film. They also sifted through my mom’s car looking for something to steal, only to find a few motivational tapes. Surprising enough they passed those including one on "Getting Rid Of Guilt." When they got into my car however, they decided to take most of what I had. They stole my CD player, taking part of my dash with it. They also took most of my CD collection and the liner to my new Columbia coat. They even took my flashlight. They then vanished as quickly as they had come.
