Road to the Revolution4th PeriodClaire Woods1st Paragraph: Introduction “Give me liberty or give me death”. This was a famous slogan used by the colonist who werefed up with being controlled by the British and by the 1780s the colonist wanted to be a free and independent state. The “Road to the Revolution” began when these major events happened: Navigational Acts of 1660, the French and Indian War:1754-1763, Pontiac’s Rebellion & Proclamation of 1763, The Sugar Act:1764, The Stamp Act:1765, The Declaratory Act:1766, The Townshend Act:1767, The Boston Massacre:1770,The Boston Tea Party:1773, and the Intolerable Acts:1774. 2nd Paragraph: Navigational Acts:1660 The Navigational Acts of 1660 were acts placed on colonist to try and control their trade. Britain didn’t want the colonist to trade with anyone but them. The colonist protested against the acts but they did no good. The colonist were not only being told that they could only trade specific items with Britain, but the were being made to use British ships and were taxed for it! The system the British were using against the colonist is called mercantilism. Some colonist tried to boycott the items completely; others just stole what they needed to survive instead.
