L. Divine’s book Culture Clash from the series drama high takes place in Compton ,California in about 2016. The storyline is told from The main character Jayd’s point of view as she meets knew faces, Faces old ones and learns and teaches more about her culture of a priestess.This setting is a big deal because as she travels from compton to her mom’s side of town, many of her friends are living the big life but some are hood rich as Jayd would say one of her best friends , Mickey is . This book has a variety of tone’s one tone is serious because when confronted about her culture no matter the place Jayd gets serious and doesn't back down she also loves to teach about where she comes from who her ancestors are and mostly who her grandmother, Lynn Mae is. There is a lot of internal conflict because Jayd doesn't like that her mom and grandma use their powers to see what she I thinking.There is also a lot of external conflict with the people Jayd communicates with. Jayd creates a new group called ASU for Anyone who believes everyone should be equal, Jeremy supporting Jayd’s culture since he doesn't usually agree with it, and finally Rah just well being Rah. The thing that makes the title relate to the story is because in the book cultures just well how do i say it, they clash some agree and some don't . This story relates to real life when Rah baby mom is trying to sabotage Her and Rah relationship. The difference is well there really isn't a difference. I wouldn't change a thing besides Trish ugly bald headed self being in the picture after her and Rah broke up.
