Recommended: Canadian food

Canada is an extraordinary country with diverse cultures and vast types of food. Because of its great multiculturalism, authentic Canadian food can often times get lost amongst all the gorgeous Vietnamese, Japanese and Mexican delights. If you were to ask the typical tourist – “what is Canadian food” – they would often times be unresponsive. To be fair however, there aren’t too many Canadian foods, we aren’t like the Italians or the French, but we do have a few amazing dishes that we think everyone should know about : 1. Poutine poutine1 Photo Source: travel.nationalgeographic.com A lot of foreigners get a little intimated by the poutine. But don’t let the components of this dish overwhelm you; the crispy fries with the rich gravy and cheesy cheese curds are a true match made in matrimony. A perfect poutine all starts with the fries. They have to be freshly cut and cooked to golden perfection. Next is the sauce, which must be the right consistency and can come either from fresh chicken or duck stock. There must be enough gravy to coat the fries but also to leave some crispy and untouched. The cheese curds should be stringy and pull apart while you fork a bite of this heavenly dish.
