By censoring nudity in art, we are creating a generation that's less passionate about the knowledge and understanding of art and more against it. According to the article "Examine Your Own Limits”, “media coverage of culture stokes fears: mass media like to focus on art in two primary ways—as scandalous controversy and as luxury good (and the two can sometimes support each other). This sensationalist approach to culture reinforces the feeling that art is dangerous, threatening to our values—or suspect as an overvalued... In combination these things create mistrust and fear around art” (Phillips). Art should not be censored nor feared. Censoring art, in a way is brainwashing people into believing that its something unnatural. Younger generations are also being taught that that this type of art is posing a treat when in reality it’s a beautiful aspect of who we are as humans. Others can use this form of censorship into manipulating the public, “censorship of the Arts can be tailored to suit the government's needs. People are forced to think in a certain manner as the set of "right" opinions is presented to the public...This effect of censorship is an example of how those in power make use of censorship to keep their status or even gain more power” (Possible). Take a look at what’s occurring now. More people are siding with censoring nudity because many public areas have prohibited their use. It’s hard to have one’s own opinions when a majority of people are on a different side. Censorship has always been a bigger issue than it needs to be. Higher powers have a large say in what goes out in the public and if they don’t like nudity, then they censor it. People can't ignore the fact that it’s still
