Ethics Of An Engineer

In the profession of an engineer, there were rules and regulations to be followed such as the code of professional conduct. It is designed to cover all the eventualities which must be necessarily written in general terms of expressing broad ethical principles. In this case, the leader of a politician party is approached an engineer in order to help him with the state by-election with promising a reward. Even by accept the offer will promise the profit to the company but as an engineer which carry the responsibility to be trusty by the society should not disobey the code of ethics. The codes of ethics provide a framework for ethical judgment for a professional. The codes serve as a starting point for the engineer for ethical decision-making. By having the rules and regulations, it shaped the engineer to think further of accepting any offers. Based on the professional conduct and discipline of the Institute of Engineer Malaysia (IEM) state that every member which means the engineer of any grade that he or she is stand or hold, shall be engaged or employed in any advisory or consultative capacity. They shall observe and be bound by the code of professional conduct and the professional conduct regulations. The engineer shall act strictly manner in relation to their clients even the clients is a leader of the politician party. As in the IEM regulations on the professional conduct, it also state that the engineer shall not accept any trade commissions, discounts allowances or indirect profit in connection with the work upon which he or she is engaged. ...g ethics is the field which applied ethics and moral principle that apply to the practice of engineering. From the study of engineering ethics also, it helps the engineer to improve the logical thinking which means it improve the ability to make logical decisions. Besides that, it also improves the ability to resolve issues, problem and tasks. For example, before the engineer come out with a decision, they need to figure it out whether each decision that they are up to is right or wrong which means the decision is a moral decision or immoral decision. If the decision is moral and the action provide benefit to the society, then the decision is an ethical action and vice versa. Therefore, it is important to the future engineer to study engineering ethics because engineers invent the future and their work affects the lives of millions of people whether better or worse.
