In the profession of an engineer, there were rules and regulations to be followed such as the code of professional conduct. It is designed to cover all the eventualities which must be necessarily written in general terms of expressing broad ethical principles. In this case, the leader of a politician party is approached an engineer in order to help him with the state by-election with promising a reward. Even by accept the offer will promise the profit to the company but as an engineer which carry the responsibility to be trusty by the society should not disobey the code of ethics. The codes of ethics provide a framework for ethical judgment for a professional. The codes serve as a starting point for the engineer for ethical decision-making. Based on the professional conduct and discipline of the Institute of Engineer Malaysia (IEM) state that every member which means the engineer of any grade that he or she is stand or hold, shall be engaged or employed in any advisory or consultative capacity. From the study of engineering ethics also, it helps the engineer to improve the logical thinking which means it improve the ability to make logical decisions. Besides that, it also improves the ability to resolve issues, problem and tasks. For example, before the engineer come out with a decision, they need to figure it out whether each decision that they are up to is right or wrong which means the decision is a moral decision or immoral decision. If the decision is moral and the action provide benefit to the society, then the decision is an ethical action and vice versa. Therefore, it is important to the future engineer to study engineering ethics because engineers invent the future and their work affects the lives of millions of people whether better or worse.

Roller coasters come in all sizes and configurations. Roller coasters are designed to be intense machines that get the riders’ adrenaline pumping. Ever since my first roller coaster ride, I knew I was hooked. I cannot get enough of the thrilling sensation caused by these works of engineering. When people board these rides, they put their faith in the engineers who designed the rides and the people who maintain and operate the rides. In this paper, I will bring to your attention a specific instance when the operation of one of these coasters came into question and led to a very tragic incident. From this, I will look into the events leading up to the incident and evaluate the decisions made by the people involved.
To clarify, the Engineering Code of Ethics is the set of rules established by the National Society of Professional Engineers that all engineers are expected to adhere to. In essence, the fundamental tenets of this code are that all engineers are expected to prioritize public safety, as well as be honest with their clients and the general public while only doing work that they are qualified to do. (“Code of Ethics,” n.d.). The reason this code is crucial in this case is because it offers guiding principles for the men and women who are in charge of so many of the various structures and buildings that are used by everyone in society. If the engineering population were to fail to adhere to this code, many people’s lives would be put in jeopardy; buildings might crumble, planes may crash, and bridges could collapse. This means that this code serves to keep engineers in check so that the world maintains stability, therefore its importance cannot be emphasized enough. Furthermore, since this code is nationally recognized, if a company’s engineers were to violate any aspect of it, it would be seen nation-wide as a misuse of power for the sake
The aerospace industry is fairly new in our day in age. It has been recorded in history that the first flight ever by man took place in Kitty Hawk, NC roughly 100 years ago. Since that first model, drastic improvements have been made in aerospace technology. Aerospace has evolved from simple prop planes to sound barrier breaking jets and even to space shuttles. The very definition of aerospace in the adjective or active form is “of or relating to aerospace, to vehicles used in aerospace or the manufacture of such vehicles, or to travel in aerospace.” In general, aerospace deals with any dynamic manufactured vehicle that travels above the surface of the earth. This, as you might expect, leaves two possibilities, the atmosphere or our earth, and outer space. Such basic examples of aerospace vehicles are Cessna planes, Black Hawk helicopters, Goodyear blimps and the Columbia Space Shuttle. Throughout the 20th century and into the 21st, aerospace has and will continue to be an integrated part of our society.
Ethics is a doing and learning experience which causes us as humans to keep an open mind to change. Generally, ethics ask us to live mindfully, to think how we act and even how we feel or do things, which can change the outcome. Ethics is the moral behavior that guides our actions; it motivates us in our personal behavior and is relevant in a business setting as well. Many organizations have set forth a set of guidelines known as a “Code of Ethics”. The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, being one of these organizations, has set forth their code as a requirement for students and engineer members to adhere to. Heading towards a career in electrical engineering I choose this organization to elaborate on for my ethics project.
