The movie “There Will Be Blood” was released on the 25th of January, 2008. The director of the film was Paul Thomas Anderson. Anderson was also the screenwriter. Some of the more important actors are Daniel Day-Lewis, Dillon Freasier, and Paul Dano. The movie does a good job showing that some people will always care more about themself and their personal gain, than other people around them, even their loved ones. Some fathers would rather become enemies with their son than to see them become successful. “There Will Be Blood” would be best classified as a drama. The movie shows a man’s struggle to balance family, work, money, and personal gain. In the movie, Daniel Plainview, a man who strikes oil and gets rich, adopts a fellow miner’s son and raises the child practically from birth. The writers used indirect characterization for Plainview, showing his personality through his thoughts and actions, rather than directly coming out and stating his personality. Some people would consider him a very heartless man, caring more about his success than the safety and health of his son. At times, Plainview acts like his son is more or less just a burden rather than a blessing. Plainview could also be considered a static character. Even at the beginning of the story he was primarily concerned with money and his own personal success. That desire for money and personal success only gets stronger as time goes on. There were definitely times when it would appear to the audience that Plainview was a good father and did actually care about his son, but the majority of the time, it seemed like he saw his son as more of an business partner and asset than an actual son. I personally think the actor did an excellent job in playing the role of Mr.
