According to urban dictionary a poppet is “a small figure of a human being used in sorcery and witchcraft”. A poppet was a doll made to represent a person, for casting spells on that person or to aid that person through magic. In the Crucible Mary warren it in court and she start making this poppet in the middle of a Salem witch trial court, she stated that she had felt wired and sick. That means that she was being control as if a witch was telling her what to do. Abigail had everything planned out, she was the one who told Mary warren to create a poppet and to give it to Elizabeth. It was all part of Abigail's plan to set proctor's wife up.
