The Pact, Where Three Young Men Make a Promise and Fulfill a Dream is written by Dr. Rameck Hunt, Dr. Sampson Davis, and Dr. George Jenkins. These three gentleman all met in University High School And decided to make a pact to get thru high school. They all believed and made a promise to become Doctors and prove to everyone that just because you were born & raised in drug filled neighborhood doesn’t mean that you still can’t be successful. This lead to them to writing their book which happens to be a New York Times Best Seller. The Pact is an very In-depth Book. Before reading the book i had no idea it would be about Three young men going to college to receive their doctoral. So, With Me knowing how hard it was for Them growing up based on the novel is something that I would love to read to about and Should be an inspiration for people going through times like them. After reading the first few chapters of the novel I wanted to learn how these three young men could stick together and keep there promise threw out all The hard times. The first person to tell the story would George Jenkins. His parents got divorced when he was young and he’s lived in the ghetto for most of his life. George was always flattered With dental work and tools and it all started when he was only 11 when he went to go get braces. His interest in The work and tools always impressed The dentist and with george curiosity and desirable effort to learn more about the work the dentist began to quiz him on dental tools and Things In the office. Sam grew up in the neighborhood as the two other boys and experienced such poverty and witnessed ton of crimes. Sam talks about his role model that he had met and looked up to. He was a martial-arts teacher named Reggie. Reggie was also a security guard also he was the type of person who made an honest living and was respected by some of the toughest guys in the community. Reggie was a highly trained black belt who help sam, but Sam started to slip after he turn 15 and stray with guys 4 - 7 years older than him. He would hang out late they also drink 40 ounces malt liquor as they hung out. Sam stopped lessons with Reggie and headed towards trouble with the boys. Last but not least would Be Rameck Hunt. Rameck , has issues with his mother. Rameck struggled to forgive his mother for the reason she had ended up a heroin addict. His father was a heroin addict also but he forgave his father, or didn't blame his father as he did his mom. His father spent most of his childhood in and out of jail for doing petty crimes. Rameck grandmother house is where he had a stable home and felt most secure at which was located in

Sam never had to worry about his family or school once that relationship broke off. Another type of social control is involvement. Involvement can mean many things, but it’s basically about holding a job, going to school, or participating in a sport. The character of Sam, as stated before, was kicked out of school. So, he didn’t have school keeping him away from deviant behaviors. And then there 's the reveal that Sam can’t write or read well. Sam had made an attempt to get a job at a movie store, but he would 've had to do an application, which required him to write. He was shown to be scared and nervous after he attempted at write on the form. Sam had little involvement in anything because he was a poor writer and reader, which lead him to act more deviant. A final reason as to why Sam acted so deviant, was because had little opportunity in life.
