Psychology Analysis Essay The mind one of our worlds greatest mysteries, consisting of ones personal intellect, experiences, and conscious. Our mind is the most important part of our body, creating an equilibrium between all of the pieces of our body allowing us a stable and efficiently working body. There are so many different speculations and aspects to the mind that it is very difficult for one to fully understand them all, us as humans still do not even have a full understanding of how the mind works. Within the mind there is an aspect called psychology. Psychology specifically deals with the mental characteristics and attitude of an individual. During my creation of my psychology box I implemented various theories and aspects of psychology in order to successfully portray myself. When looking at the inside of the box many of my items represent my shyness, I tend to hold back my true feeling or view points which is represented by the cloth showing me concealing and hiding my true intentions. It has become natural for me to act like this because of past experiences and life …show more content…
Both the inside and the outside of my box include ideas of innovation and creativity. I tend to take action on things in a very unorthodox way and complete them with my own “twist”. The inside and outside of my box both also include suggestions to my intelligence as both I and others believe I am fairly smart in a general sense. In contrasting events the inside of my box includes suggestions to my shyness and tendency to be introverted. I personal know that I hold a lot back and keep to my self when it comes to my personal beliefs. Though from the outside I seem very introverted and outgoing. Not only that but I seem very random and sporadic from the outside as seen with the dice. Whereas on the inside I believe I am very calm and collective when it comes to my actions and
I sense that there is an importance to learn the various aspects of our minds and how it works to navigate through our information rich environment and to embrace the similarities and differences that we have. I personally hope that psychology will help me understand my place in this world and how, with the knowledge I have acquired to the study of psychology, help make the world an easier place to live in. There has been too many a time where we humans have made uneducated decisions that affected the lives of other people and regret to tell the tale. I wish that each and every individual will have the chance to learn psychology to further understand our thoughts and behavior because, with psychology, we have a greater chance to mold a better future for the next
Psychology comprises of two words originally used by the ‘Greeks’, ‘psyche’, defining the mind, soul or spirit and lastly ‘logos’ being study. Both words define together the ‘study of the mind’. Psychology perspectives evaluate the normal and abnormal behaviour and how persons’ deal with different concepts of issues and problems. Psychology theories’ are based on ‘common sense’, but its scientific structure, everything needs to be evaluated and tested, therefore, promoting different psychological theories’.
The mind serves the purpose of allowing us to perceive and gain knowledge of our relation with the outside world thus creating this understanding we have of it. In “What does it all mean?” by Thomas Nagel, he presents the relation that exists between our perception and the similarities in behavior such as our interaction with the environment. Through the observation of our physical construction and behavior. One of the examples he uses is whether chocolate would taste the same to you as it would to me. Determining if our taste of chocolate would be the same is a difficult point to argue because I am unable to ever know what something tastes like to you. From John Locke’s point of view, “Nothing exists in the mind that wasn 't first in the senses.” Therefore, this secondary qualities, as he would label them, color and taste of the ice cream, are subjective and exist as ideas. If our senses were removed, our mind would still perceive, conclude and create an experience. Locke refers to this as representative realism, the theory that we perceive objects indirectly by means of our idea of them. All this will serves as the purpose for what the mind was created for. The foundation or what it was designed for will not change from one person to another. The change occurs at the point of perception because this is left to the interpretation of the mind processing the information. The mind depends on my physical existence for its existence. If this is plausible, can we have knowledge of other minds? I believe we
The human mind is one of the most complex structures the gods had created. It is difficult to understand each brain process as every human being possesses his or her own distinguished thought patterns with different levels of complexities. A person’s mind greatly influences his behavior, which eventually transforms into his habit by becoming embedded into his character. Today, the world of psychology tries to understand everything that a mind can create. However, even before the field of Psychology was introduced and brought into practice, some American writers threw a spotlight on the mechanism of the human brain in their works. On top of this list is an American writer, Edgar Allan
For my psychology interview assignment, I had the privilege of interviewing Elaine, who is the Director of Preschool X, which is an educational institution. She reports that she has been in this position for 13 years since its inception. Elaine is a close friend of my aunt, which was how I was able to meet her. She explained that her responsibilities include; the hiring of all personnel related to the school, submission of criminal background checks, the medical reports for all staff and children must be current, and also developed a curriculum for the teachers to execute. She has parent meetings and she deals with parents on a daily basis. For any arising issues, Elaine conferences with parents at least once or twice a week. Have weekly staff meetings regarding the curriculum. She also plays the role as the educational event coordinator, where she would “invite people from the dinosaur museum or alley pond park to come over to her preschool, to enrich the children”.

The mind is a part of the body just like the heart but more dynamic and complex in its nature...
In the article by, Jeffrey S. Nevid, he mainly focuses on the mind-set of Sigmund Freud’s theory. I found this very helpful as well because it related to the way people think and how the mind develops from an infant to an adult.
In my experience, I am aware of many cases in which my body affects my mind (I stub my toe & I feel pain) and many cases in which my mind affects my body (I feel an itch & I scratch it).
Most of the body’s functions such as, thinking, emotions, memories and so forth are controlled by the brain. It serves as a central nervous system in the human body. The mind is the intellect/consciousness that originates in the human brain and manifests itself in emotions, thoughts, perceptions and so forth. This means that the brain is the key interpreter of the mind’s content. Jackson and Nagel seem to resist identifying what we call “mental events” with brain events, for different reasons, while J.J.C. Smart takes the opposing view.
Are minds physical things, or are they nonmaterial? If your beliefs and desires are caused by physical events outside of yourself, how can it be true that you act the way you do of your own free will? Are people genuinely moved by the welfare of others, or is all behavior, in reality, selfish? (Sober 203). These are questions relevant to philosophy of the mind and discussed through a variety of arguments. Two of the most important arguments with this discussion are Cartesian dualism and logical behaviorism, both of which argue the philosophy of the mind in two completely different ways. Robert Lane, a professor at the University of West Georgia, define the two as follows: Cartesian dualism is the theory that the mind and body are two totally different things, capable of existing separately, and logical behaviorism is the theory that our talk about beliefs, desires, and pains is not talk about ghostly or physical inner episodes, but instead about actual and potential patterns of behavior. Understanding of the two arguments is essential to interpret the decision making process; although dualism and behaviorism are prominent arguments for the philosophy of the mind, both have their strengths and weaknesses.
The mind is the stage where perceptions make their appearance. They are like actors who walk across the stage and are exposed to different situations and environments. Just like various actors walk across the stage at various times with different perceptions to tell the same
The aim of this essay is to analyse four theoretical approaches to psychology, including psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive and behavioural. Analysing each approach in detail and identifying key features the approach uses to explain human behaviour. This essay will also analyse how successful each approach is in it methods, evidence gathering techniques and analyse how it can be applied to giving reasons for particular human behaviours. As well as analysing each approaches failings in it theories, methods and evidence gathering techniques.
In philosophy, the majority of studies relate to the mind. Whether it is the main subject or just a helpful side topic to move the main subject along, this term is used often. Defining the term mind is difficult, and is a topic that is popularly studied and debated among philosophers. These qualified and knowledgeable people try to determine whether or not the mind is who people are or if they are their body or a combination. Although they have learned many helpful truths and defined other useful terms, the debate is still evident in the philosophical community today. Learning about how the mind relates to the body, and whether the mind and the brain are the same thing are other ways to look at the many options of how to discern
The mind is divided up into three sections according to Freud. It consists of the conscious, preconscious, and the unconscious mind. In Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory of personality, the conscious mind consists of everything inside of our awareness. (Psychology) This part of the mind is known for keeping hold of our senses, memories and perception in our awareness. This part of our mind can tie into our preconscious mind as well, through the things we aren’t aware of though when thought about its presence is in our conscious mind now.
