For civil rights activist Cesar Chavez achieving success would not have been possible without his communication skills. Cesar Chavez was so successful due communication his ability to communicate well to people made him able to convunce others to follow his beliefs which contributed to his succes. Website Biography.com states, "After working as a community and labor organizer in the 1950s, Chavez founded the National Farm Workers Association in 1962. This union joined with the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee in its first strike against grape growers in California in 1965. A year later, the two unions merged, and the resulting union was renamed the United Farm Workers in 1972. In early 1968, Chavez called for a national boycott of California table grape growers. Chavez's battle with the grape growers for improved compensation and labor conditions would last for years. At the end, Chavez and his union won several victories for the workers when many growers signed contracts with the union. He faced more challenges through the years from other growers and the Teamsters Union. All the while, he continued to oversee the union and work to advance his cause. Success comes to those that are able to communicate efficiently to others. Without communication Cesar Chavez, Adolf Hitler, and poison dart frogs would not be successful. Cesar Chavez would have never change the working conditions of farmers without gaining a mass following he would have never getting a mass following without communication. Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party would have never acquired their desired success of being in total control over Germany without Hitlers persuasive speeches communicating that he and the Nazi party would be best for Germany and create an elite Germany. The poison dart frog would not be able to produce offspring without communicating that they are dangerous, and to be avoided by predators. They would not live long enough to be successful without them communicating that they are dangerous and that they should be avoided. All this proves that communication is the key to success and this is true for every living being. Everyone wants to live a successful life and for everyone to achieve the desired success they must be able to communicate well. The strike was the final straw of years of racial build up, poor pay, and poor conditions towards Filipino American grape workers. From 1965 to 1970, Huerta and Chavez worked together to highlight the poor conditions that 5,000 migrant farm workers were dealing with in a series of non-violent marches, speeches, and rallies. There was no significant response for the first two years, where strikers began to loose faith and turned their impatience to anger. Cesar chavez (1927-1993) was a civil rights leader. He is most famous for creating the National Farm Workers Association. Chavez grew up in Arizona on his family’s farm. When the depression hit, Chavez was 11 years old, and his family lost their farm and were forced to become migrant workers. The working conditions on the farms Chavez and his family worked on were horrible. This later inspired him to make a union for farm workers, the National Farm Workers Association. He is known for being an activist of civil rights for Latinos, rights for farm workers, and also for animal rights.

From campaigning for farmer rights to encouraging individual involvement in the government, passion and resilience remained with Chavez throughout these times. He also was introduced to Fred Ross who saw something in Chavez and recruited him to work for their organization, the Community Service Organization. Within the next couple years, Chavez ended up becoming the national director but ended up resigning in 1962 because he wanted to focus more on organizing a union for farm workers. Around September, 1965, the Farm Workers Association decided to join a strike that was initiated by the Filipino farm workers that worked in the grape fields. Next thing Chavez knew, a couple months later his union was nationally known. “Chavez’s drawing on the imagery of the civil rights movement, his insistence on nonviolence, his reliance on volunteers from urban universities and religious organizations… and his use of mass mobilizing techniques such as a famous march...brought the grape strike and consumer boycott into the national consciousness” (Cesar Chavez). Cesar admired heroes like Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr for their nonviolent methods. He followed Gandhi and Dr. King’s practice of nonviolence for the protest against grapes. Some young male strikers started talking about acts of violence. They wanted to fight back at the owners who have treated them poorly. They wanted to fight back to show that they were tough and manly. Some of the strikers viewed nonviolence as very inactive and even cowardly. However, Cesar did not believe in violence at all. He believed nonviolence showed more manliness than violence and that it supports you if you’re doing it for the right reason. He thought nonviolence made you to be creative and that it lets you keep the offensive, which is important in any contest.
