What elements of Gilgamesh make it an epic? Explain your answer

There are six elements that comprise an Epic, all of which can be found in Gilgamesh. The first of these six elements is the plot centering around a hero of unbelievable stature. Gilgamesh and Enkidu both posses characteristics that fall under this category. Gilgamesh is two-thirds God, One-third mortal and Enkidu is a man raised by beast; the pair are partially divine. Their celestial statue is elevated farther by them being patroned and protected by the gods. In table five, after multiple flour sacrifices to Shamash, he summoned the winds to defeat Humbaba so that Gilgamesh may slay him. He is described to be "perfect in strength", and having had the God of Wisdom "brought his stature to perfection." Another element of an Epic is having a vast setting. Over the course of the plot, Gilgamesh and Enkidu partake in multiple, extensive journeys. One of their iconic journeys was to the Cedar Forest where they defeated Humbaba and chopped cedar to be brought to Uruk. The fourth element to an Eoic is the inclusion of Supernatural and other-worldly forces. Gods and Goddesses have a vital involvement is the Epic of Gilgamesh. They played a key roll in the unfolding of the plot from Shamash's hand in the battle against Humbaba to Ishtar's exchange and advances to Gilgamesh. The style used by the author is yet another element used in composing an Epic. The overuse of anaphora to create a sense of lyricism throughout the Epic. Sentences starting "I will, I will, I will" emphasizes initiative and importance of the Gilgamesh's journey. The last element of an Epic is an objective, omniscient poet.
