It was dark in the cave when the monster suddenly attacked. If you want to read a story about an epic battle between good and evil then read Beowulf. Beowulf, is an ancient story about one man against some of the most evil creations known to mankind. In the book, Beowulf fights three of the most evil monster ever and comes out victorious. The author, Robert Nye is really descriptive so that you have a very vivid image of what is happening in the story.

In the beginning, the king of the Danes, Hrothgar has a dream about a glorious hall built with gold and ivory. The hall is constructed but on the first night the monster Grendel strikes killing many men that lie sleeping in the hall. This happens repeatedly and word gets out of this terrible …show more content…

This is very good especially now in times when a lot of good people get tricked by bad people into doing bad things like drugs. In the time of the story, the forms of evil are the family of Cain; evil and murder. Then there is the Firedrake which represents the greed of mankind. The hero, Beowulf is not overwhelmed by this evil power, and conquers it. In other words, Beowulf is the kind of person that goes on suicide missions but comes back alive. The theme of Beowulf is to do the right thing and not get seduced to the power of the evil. This is what a lot of people need to do right now. We need someone like Beowulf right now. In both stories the heroes there throw their own safety to the wind and try their hardest to accomplish good and save others. Magnus Chase actually dies in the first chapter of the book but ends up in Valhalla the Norse Hall of the Slain. Beowulf eventually dies in the end but comes very close to dying, on his three heroic quests of valor. When he fights Grendel he almost dies from Grendel’s sharp claws and teeth. When Beowulf fights Grendel’s mother She almost gets him when she ensnares him with Her tentacles but he escapes. But surprisingly when he fights the Firedrake, it doesn’t actually come close to killing him. Beowulf just dies because he is old and from the weight of the armour. Magnus Chase dies to begin with in the first chapter but is then resurrected. Throughout the rest of the book Magnus Chase almost dies about 1000 times but he survives. I would definitely recommend Beowulf a New Telling by Robert Nye to others. Even though Robert Nye kind of takes off a little bit of the story during the battle with the Firedrake. But I do like the story and how Robert Nye uses descriptive language to let you picture the place in your mind. All put together, I think that reading Beowulf is very inspiring and will convince you to do the right thing all the time. You will see a picture in your mind and it shall be vivid. So, like I said, if you want
