Women in love was created in 1916. World war I brings the right to vote and makes them into the work era which was just belonged to man before. Work gives the social freedom and economic independence for women. Meanwhile, Lawrence was working to create the perfect relationship between man and woman in his ideal. For Lawrence, the industrial society is decadent and degenerate heavily damaged by the war and industrial machinery, and the only way in his mind is to establish positive relationships between man and nature, man and man, and men and woman, balance is the key to all. Li Wen Yan analyses the novel from the perspective of ecologism in her paper--Let the soul to travel--analyzes the Women in love from the perspective of ecologism, she thinks that the novel awake the people’s original life instinct which is the desire of returning to the nature. There is a materialistic world in the era of industrial revolution in Lawrence’s description, in order to satisfy people’s desire, they get endlessly from nature and make the world dirty and chaos, but emptiness and loss in their hearts. As a result, Lawrence describes the satisfaction and happiness when man and nature are in peace and harmony(Li wen yan,2011:09),Then Yong Huai Zhang gives an analysis of the novel and the revelation of the ecologism in his paper--The son of nature and industry--the revelation of Women in love. He thinks that Lawrence profoundly revealed that it is the rapid development of the modern western industrial production that causes the distortion of humanity and the emptiness of human feelings(Zhang,2013:03).
