Fear is an inescapable instinct that ensues everyone. It can be triggered by anything that one perceives to be dangerous. More and more we see it in our daily lives. In the news, on billboards, even and especially in political campaigns and government speeches. It takes a grip on our world that most people don’t even notice. The simplest thing in the world is being used as a tool to shape the way we live.

The way I see it, there is an infinite number of ways to describe fear. You can make it sound all fancy and scholarly; or you can go all Socrates and perceive it to be completely philosophical. Although you can play it as so many different things, fear is simply a reaction. Fear is the most simple of things in life. Yet, when you try to understand it, you find yourself unable to realize what it is and what it does. As simple as it can seem at times, the way we use fear is what makes it complex. Think terrorism and extreme activists. In some ways, their use of fear is more obvious, but when you peel back the layers, you can see just how far down terror, strife, and chaos sink. Terrorists don’t simply stuff up to make a point and strike fear, they do it to show what power they have over people.
