Since this is my first DBA class taken at Columbia Southern University (CSU), I wanted to make sure that I schedule enough time so that I could devote my energies towards accomplishing the goal of acing this course. As with most students at CSU, I have to balance my time between work, my family and the DBA Course. Levin (2007) proposes that “Time Management” is a misnomer, because a person cannot “Manage Time”; time is fluid and inherently cannot be managed. Levin (2007) then goes on to bring up the idea of not managing time, but rather come up with a plan and make sure that you plan ahead so that you may obtain your desired goals. Once those dates where on my calendar, color coded so that I could easily recognize those entries apart from the other entries on the calendar, I started to plan a block of time each day in order to do something for those classes. Determining what blocks of time I needed to devote to the research and writing of each Unit assignment was the next step in the process. Forsyth (2013) wrote that “Making time management work for you is based on two key factors: how you plan your time and how you implement the details of what you do.” (p. 3). I also feel, along with Tracy (2014) that you should devote anywhere between 60 to 90 minutes on the task at hand, without any interruptions. However, I disagree with Tracy (2014) on the time of day that works best. Tracy (2014) poses that a person should arise at 5:00 or 6:00 am to work their tasks. Understanding my personal best times, I find that I am more productive from 8:30 pm to 11:00 pm. Therefore, I scheduled my course work time between those times.
