Comparing Two Trailers for the Same Films

Compare two trailers for the same or opposite films, exploring the similarities and differences between them and their effects on an audience.

I will be discussing the similarities and differences in the two film trailers. I will also discuss the effect they have on the audience by looking at lighting, images, music, actors, characters, special effects, editing/speed, dialogue and any other information given. The two trailers I will look at are ‘Return to Me’ and ‘The Matrix.’

In the first trailer, Return to Me, it showed scenes of family and friends together. From the trailer I interpreted that the genre was a romantic comedy. This is because the trailer …show more content…

The ‘Matrix’ I think is for older teenagers and adults because it is harder to follow, has fight scenes and inappropriate special effects for young children. The effect of flashing lights makes the film daunting for youngsters. The trailer for ‘The Matrix’ shows mostly men which is to some extent more appealing to males.

Overall I thought the directors of both films appealed to a certain target group with the different effects and would make them want to watch the film. Personally ‘The Matrix’ was more appealing to me rather than ‘Return to Me’ which also suggests the target audience for ‘The Matrix’ being
