For example in the text, is when the teacher says, “ You’ve only got two hours, you know.” (page 5, Bradbury)The teacher is telling the students to take in the sun because you only have two hours of the sun. This relates to the theme in the story because the students need to take the value in the only two hours of sun because the sun only comes out every 9 years for only two hours. ANother example of this is “ Margot stood apart from these children who could never remember a time when there wasn’t rain and rain and rain.” (page 1,Bradbury) It is telling us about Margot and how grateful she is. In the short story, “The Lottery” one person gets stoned to death every year but it is the luck of the draw. For example in the story was, “ Tessie Hutchinson shouted to Mr. Summers, ‘ You didn’t give him enough time .” (page 5, Jackson) Tessie’s husband got the stone on the paper. This shows that Tessie doesn’t want anyone in her family to pick the stone again. Another example is when Tessie says, “ I tell you it wasn’t fair, you didn’t give him enough time to choose.” (page 6, Jackson) Tessie doesn’t want Bill to die or any of her family.
