Everybody has heard of the play, Romeo and Juliet. The play is a classic tragedy of two lovers forced apart by a feud between their families. A key scene that is different between the variations is the deaths of Romeo and of Juliet. In the true Shakespeare play, Romeo killed himself with poison, before Juliet woke up. By the time Juliet woke up, her lover was dead, then she killed herself with Romeo’s dagger.
In class, we watched three different takes on the classic tragedy, and are analyzing two of them to the actual play. Juliet strategizes her disastrous plan and worries, “How if, when I am laid into the tomb, I wake before the time that Romeo come to redeem me?” (Lines 30-32 of Act Four, Scene Three). Romeo is surprised at what he did because Juliet awakes as he dies. To see him dead causes Juliet to stab herself with his dagger, straight through the heart. It's a bittersweet ending to such a famous and timeless love story. The fact that they both died for each other is romantic. The fact that they could have been together makes it all seem a greater tragedy.
Romeo and Juliet is a tragic story about a pair of star-crossed lovers whose demises were unexpected to most. However, their deaths were a result of their impulsiveness. It caused their problematic marriage, Romeo’s preventable death, as well as Juliet’s preventable death.
In the course of the play, Romeo and Juliet immediately fall in love. Also, they know they are meant for each other and therefore decide to get married. After this marriage, there was a brief moment in time where everything was perfect. They are married, in love and there is nothing stopping them from being together. This however quickly changes after a fight that leads to death. Once Romeo is banished from Verona for the penalty of murder, love grows tremendously between the couple and drives the need to be together. His plan for Juliet is to tell her father she will marry Paris then go to bed with no one, not even the nurse. After, she will drink a potion to make her seem dead for forty two hours and then have a messenger tell Romeo about it. He will have her put in a vault to wait for Friar to bring her out so she and Romeo can elope. The plan was perfect until tragedy occurs, Benvolio had seen Juliet dead and immediately tells Romeo about it. The result is Romeo and Juliet murdering themselves and the play had a tragic ending. Typically, when a modern audience think of Shakespeare, they immediately think it will be boring, yet Lurhmann successfully rejuvenates Romeo and Juliet. In his film production he uses a number of different cinematic techniques, costumes and a formidably enjoyable soundtrack; yet changes not one word from Shakespeare’s original play, thus making it appeal to a modern audience.

These children died because of the love they shared, the true love they shared that blinded them of all that was going o around them. In conclusion, the hatred between the families, the strong young love, and Juliet’s forced marriage played great roles which lead to the brutal death of these star crossed lovers. The parent’s hatred blinded them to pay attention to their children’s needs, the love kept Romeo and Juliet together through all costs and the Friar’s plan to avoid the marriage went wrong which lead them to their death.
When the friar hears of this, he devises a plan so that the two lovers can be together. The major climax of the play comes when the friar gives Juliet a potion that will make it seem as though she has died, when in fact she is alive the whole time. While in Mantua, Romeo mistakenly hears that Juliet has actually died and he goes to lay by her side. Just as he takes a vile poison and dies, Juliet awakens to find her love lying dead at her side. She cannot fathom living in a world without Romeo, so she takes his sword and ends her own life.
