If there is one thing that Harry Potter and Bilbo Baggins have in common is cleverness. Both are highly intelligent and know how to think think on their feet when in dangerous situations. Take Bilbo outwitting Smaug the dragon for an example anymore would've been panic-stricken due to the fight-or-flight reaction that everyone possesses. In this specific instance we see Bilbo offer his services to put his ring on to see what Smaug was doing. Bilbo said something interesting that he recalled his father, saying “Every worm has his weak spot” (Tolkien 221). In the course of this crisis the party gets split up and Bilbo gets left alone, leaving him to defend for himself. Bilbo at the time felt very uneasy wandering the forest alone, that is until he managed to kill a fearsome spider all by himself. This boosted Bilbo’s confidence greatly and he now had enough experience to be able to take leadership in following situations. Once he found the rest of the group he used his newly acquired skills to save them. I would split The Hobbit into multiple films because I want every detail from the story to be in the movie. I believe that taking only main events from the book and fitting it into a 2 hour film would make it choppy and uninteresting. The Hobbit is an amazing book and it deserves more than one film. (And because one film means less or no scenes for Frodo, Elrond and Thranduil)...... C:
