Tragic moments often lead individuals to continue with their life since death is an acquaintance and we will all obtain it one day. Mankind had proceeded to failure due to not containing an ounce of caring in their bones. This is interrupted throughout Ovid, Brueghel, Auden, and Williams’ showing the failure that was designated to the people who didn’t care enough for Icarus. Ovid’s original adaptation of Daedalus and Icarus doesn’t necessarily distribute any sense of caring towards Icarus’ fall. Ovid mainly tells the readers that Icarus disobeyed his father’s directions. In the passage “Icarus and Daedalus” and in the poem, “Icarus” nature plays a big role. In both, the passage and the poem the son, Icarus, was stuck on an island and the father ,Daedalus, made his son wings. Daedalus made his son the wings out of wax and feathers, when Icarus was flying he flew too close to the sun and the wings started to melt because of the heat from the sun. The feathers started to fall down one by one and no one was there to save Icarus. In both, the passage and the poem nature plays a big role.

Foreshadowing was also repeated when Daedalus’ “cheeks were wet with tears and his hands trembled. He kissed his son (good-bye, if he had known it)” (pg.188). The main theme in the myth relates to Daedalus' vain attempts to caution his son, encouraging Icarus to take the middle road: “I warn you, Icarus, fly a middle course” (pg.188). Ovid’s diction shows the gravity of the situation as he chooses the words “I warn you”. Daedalus further tires to teach his son by telling him “don’t go too low, or water will weigh you down; don’t’ go too high, or the sun’s fire will burn them” (pg.188). The Fall Of Icarus is a greek tale about a grand inventor/architect, named Daedalus, who was imprisoned in a labyrinth, sentenced by king Minos of Crete. However, he was not the only one who has been imprisoned. His son, Icarus, was also a victim of Minos’s judgement. During the imprisonment in the labyrinth, Daedalus had the idea to take to the skies for a method of escape.
