Maya Angelou once said,”People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” In the short stories,” Abuela Invents Zero,” “Coming Into Language,” and “The Stolen Party,” All of these short stories have put the main characters in a position to change who they value and how they changed during the stories. In “Abuela Invents Zero,” a short story written by Guillermo M, it read,” I ignore her when she gets up with all the other people to receive Communion.” Constancia feels embarrassed that her grandma dressed so different from others, that is why she didn’t bother to go with her during any of her trip. Constancia’s grandmother ended up confessing to her daughter saying she made me(Constancia) feel like a “zero.” Constancia’s mom explained,” You know Constancia that if it wasn’t for the old woman whose existence you don’t seem to value you and I wouldn’t be here.” This portrays the story because it proves that without the grandma they wouldn’t even be alive. …show more content…

But what she doesn’t know is she got invited just to go help out instead of being a guest. During the party Lucia’s friends would go up to her saying she wasn’t a real friend and that made Rousara hurt. The mom said,” Thank you very much, my little countess.” This proves that Rousara just got invited to help out instead of just enjoying the party. When the party ended Lucia’s Mom went up to Rousara and her Mom to get a party favor. But then said,” You really and truly earned this… thank you for your help my pet.” Rousara felt extremely shocked and realized that she was only invited just to help
