Comparing and Contrasting the 1960’s to Today The 1960’s are a lot different from today’s time in music, fashion, and education. Plenty of restaurants, food , and most cultural attitudes have changed as well. Many people still go by the rules and regulations of the past, but other than that, what other similarities or differences have the past brought. Young people read and learn a lot about the 1960’s mostly because people don’t want history to repeat itself. Racism, discrimination, and just plain bad rules were also tolerated during the 1960’s. Back then the women wore long dresses, or they would wear tops with peter pan collars. They would also wear pleated mini skirts with the peter pan collar. They’re fashion back then was very pop even for teens, they took that advantage. Most of the young teens started the trends when in 1964 the mini skirts replaced the long skirts; then came a long short tight shirt ,and even tights with designs on them. 2000’s people are a lot different in fashion. Even though the teens in the 1960’s came up with the ideas the 2000’s teens carried it along. Today, many teens wear little clothing or if you were raised differently you’d still dress the same. People are making more brands than the 1960’s; You have brands like Nike, Pink, and Polo. Back then everything was bright colored filled with a variety of colors. Quickly, the fashion began to spread. Now you have more teens that like darker colors, half shirts, or heels. If lonely, all you had to do was pop a bright nail color and it’s a party. It doesn’t matter what type of clothing you have on their still clothes. Many parents in both generations were/are still cautious of what their child wore.
