Recommended: Future about education

Going to college has been getting more expensive every year since colleges started. Going to college gives a student a chance to find a career in their major of choice. The only problem is that it isn’t always guaranteed. There are millions of graduated students that can’t find jobs in their major. Most of those students have student loans that they still owe and can’t afford to pay off. The average student with student loans owes over $25,000 and that doesn’t include all that interest that piles up every month. The United States should make college tuition free for everyone that has a high school degree. That can be achieved by making colleges give free tuition, changing the way interest piles up, and by lowering the military budget.

Instead of charging interest each month, they should charge a set amount for your total debt to cover the interest and it would be lower. For example, if a student owes $30,000 the total interest would be $40,000 if paid off within 10 years of graduation date. There would be brackets of debt that would determine that end amount that you would owe for your loans. That way it will be easier for everyone to know how much they will really owe in 10 years. By doing this system the student will know that when they make a payment of $5,000 to their loans, all of that amount will go straight to the principal since there will be a total amount of debt that doesn’t rise. People always say that nothing is free and that someone has to pay for it. The US should stop spending money on things that are futuristic within their military budget and make their citizens smarter by giving them an equal chance at higher education. Having free tuition and only having to pay for books while the government takes 10% of each check until $25,000 sounds like the best way for everyone to get a chance at finding a career instead of a minimum wage job. The way interest works should change and give you a set amount of money you owe and everything goes to the principal. Look into what the military has spent billions of dollars into and see how much money was wasted on ideas that might not happen like an “Iron Man” suit with a current budget of $80 million.
