Recommended: An essay about the history of the clarinet

For this assignment the instrument I chose to look further into was the clarinet. Back in elementary and middle school I used to play the clarinet but I never really knew the history behind it and am interested to learn more. When looking into the other members of the clarinet family I was surprised to see how many there were. I had no idea that there were that many different types of clarinets. The Clarinet family starts out with sopranino clarinet in Ab, sopranino clarinet in Eb, sopranino clarinet in D, Clarinet in C, Clarinet in Bb, Clarinet in A and than Basset clarinet in A. That’s not all we also have the basset horn in F, alto clarinet in Eb, Bass clarinet in Bb, contralto clarinet in Eb, contrabass clarinet in Bb. Buffet Crampon started out making musical instrument in 1825 in France. They started out making woodwind instruments only, but is most popular for their clarinets. Yamaha Corporation started out making musical instruments in 1887 in Japan. They started out as a piano and reed organ manufacturer and than branched out. Two of the most prominent composers known to work with the clarinet are Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) and Bela Bartok (1881-1945). Mozart is the most famous composer for classical pieces of music for the clarinet. Clarinet was Mozart's favorite instrument and later down the road the Bassett horn. Bela Bartok roots were for Hungarian folk music. His pieces have an unusual rhythmic concepts. Bartok was considered one of the most important composers of the 20th century. After learning more of the background, up bringing and who influenced the clarinet I was very amazed by all the different things I learned about this instrument that I played for 5 years in one project that I didn't

Lots of people try to be funny and answer Squidward from Spongebob Squarepants but who really were the super stars of this well-known instrument? There are many clarinet players out there that had a lot of great master pieces and who made very important achievements with this instrument. One of these famous clarinet players was a man named Johann Simon Hermstedt. Johann Simon Hermstedt was one of the many well-known clarinet players of the 19th century. Hermstedt was born on December 29 of 1778 and he died on August 10 of 1846 in Sondershausen, Germany. Hermstedt also played an important part in Germany, when he lived in Germany, he played as court clarinetist to Duke Gunther I of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen, and he also taught him how to play the clarinet. Another clarinet player named Louis Spohr’s used to play concerts and he played four concerts along with Carl Maria von Weber, played all pieces that were composed by Hermstedt. These two clarinet players were very dedicated to his work and his life; they were very inspired by his way of playing. Hermstedt was pretty much a bit of a composer himself, he wrote various pieces of music for other wind instrument players but he’s not as famous as Mozart and all other composers, he was more of a conservative player.
