In Chapter V Machiavelli recommends the prince; The three ways of conquering and conserving a state that was accustomed to be governed by its own laws and to live in freedom: 1.- Destroying it, 2.- Being settled in the, 3.- Letting it govern by its laws but forcing them to pay tributes and conform A government with a select group. This recommendation reflects the mediocrity of a dark human being like Machiavelli. This recommendation has been consistently applied to other peripheral and semi-peripheral countries of Europe for centuries. History shows us how Western rulers through the conquests of other territories have invaded and destroyed millennial cultures. We consider that this chapter does not contribute much to the civilization of the humanity and the peaceful coexistence of the towns. …show more content…

In this chapter Machiavelli recommends following the path trodden by others and imitate exceptional men, never rely on chance and take great care when you are going to innovate. According to Machiavelli the difficulties arise from the new laws and customs that are to be implemented, therefore "the innovating ruler becomes the enemy of all who benefit from the old laws, you get the warm friendship of those who benefit from New laws. " In Chapter VI Machiavelli talks about the new principalities that are acquired by the arms and by the own talent.
