Have you ever experienced life altering events which changed the way you’ve thought of things? In The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, Kafka mentions that life changing events could potentially alter the way you go about life good or bad. When human beings experience traumatic events, you get to see their true colors. After Gregor’s transformation he still proceeded as if he was a human which causes destruction in his family: this relates to the theme of when people experience traumatic events, you get to see their true color. This evaluates the strong and weak points of his family how incapable they are on working together after grieving the transformation. Gregor’s family was then left in a financial crisis after the transformation. Gregor is unable to work due to his transformation which is affecting his families lives physically and mentally, Kafka states (46). The family had been having people clean their home wearing expensive jewelry and so now that their lives had changed the family had to let go of the cleaning lady, sell some jewelry, and now the thought of employment hurt the family, but altered the way they went about life. Kafka also concludes, Gregor is hungry and weak due to the family not caring about him anymore (49). The family got rid of Gregor because he’s affecting the whole family, their money, and their mind. Distracting the family from society and finally opening them to society. When Gregor was a salesman they stick to you like a bug keeps bothering you lowering the price until you give in. Now Gregor was turned into what his job made him be which was a bug and he stayed that way with the same mindset. The family mind had changed because they were recovering from the traumatic event which soon shown the families
