History informs the present through its teachings to others. The teachings are taught so the people in this present-day will be enlightened by the actions that took place in the past. Immigration was an important part of our history and still is. They have faced many challenges throughout their journey to come to the U.S. and are still facing some of those same challenges today. Immigrants to some people in the United States are looked at as if they are lower than the people that were already from here. Learning and understanding the main language, English is a difficult language to learn for those who spoke only the language of where they came from. Not understanding and knowing the languages prevents immigrants from getting a job, a car, or even meeting new people. It 's important for immigrants to learn the language so that they fit in with the American people. Learning the English language gives the immigrants opportunities to further their education and their financial status. It benefits their family because they can better understand the laws and policies they have to abide in the country. Many immigrants struggle with this and to me this is one of the biggest challenges they face. Immigrants often try to marry someone who is already a citizen of the United States so that they can get their citizenship that way. Others wait the required amount of years to be considered a legal citizen and often struggle during those years. When immigrants do find an employer, their employer often knows that their employee is illegal in the country. Some employers tend to take advantage of the immigrant because the employer knows they need the money or they are willing to let the immigrant work everyday of the week to earn more money.
