Case Study: The GEO Group INC

The company that I chose to discuss is, namely, The GEO Group INC. For over eleven years, this has been my place of employment. Furthermore, I feel as though I can provide valuable awareness. In regards to this, I for one, can also take some of the information and use it for the benefit of my overall knowledge and job performance. Dedicating eleven years of my life to a particular company is not an ordinary deal, in regards to my opinion, eleven years stands as a long time. Furthermore, I take a sense of pride in truth and reality pertaining to the company, which I dedicated a huge percentage of my life too. Additionally, I am only twenty-nine years old, and I have been with the company since the age of eighteen years old. As you can notice, this is the only career that I am accustomed to. In the year of 2013 GEO signs a contract with Florida Atlantic University to place the name of GEO on the school’s stadium (Prison legal 2015). This event stuck protest amongst the students at the college. The employees that were employed with GEO were not happy about the situation either. Likewise, I can personally speak on this incident, myself along with my peers, were wondering how the company can make such a big donation to the school, but not give the employees any rises, or incentives. After, huge publicity, protest, and outrageous comments by both parties, the GEO GROUP decided to withdraw the contract of donating six million dollars to Florida Atlantic University. Furthermore, in 2012 an inmate at South Bay Correctional Facility (GEO GROUP), was awarded one point two million dollars, for losing his sight in one eye, while being attacked by another inmate (Palm Beach Post 2012).
