Be that the stigmatization and representative image of homelessness is generally depicted as a person in rags pushing a shopping cart while digging thought dumpsters, this image is but a small spectrum of the overall reality of what homelessness encompasses. A home is not limited to a physical space that provides shelter and privacy but also includes identity, security, and a emotional sense of belonging. So that begs the question of presumption that what is the difference in liberties and rights do the homeless have when they are separated into differing categories of homelessness? Where is the line drawn when property is considered trash while on the other hand when are paper and aluminum cans are worth the same as a laptop as personal property? …show more content…

The lack of employment opportunities, war and conflict, migration, mental health, social exclusion, gentrification, and poverty are just but a few factors that drive one toward homelessness.

The Preamble of the US Declaration of Independence states the following:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
