Memory One Christmas my mom had this idea that nobody wanted to do but we did anyway. It was Christmas eve at my aunt's house and the parents were trying to get us to go to bed. When we wouldn’t my mom suggested going caroling. We all screamed that we didn’t want to go. Since she was the adult we had to listen to her and we went. As me and the rest of my family were walking house to house we started to have some fun. That was mostly because my mom was singing songs we barely new the words to. Since we didn’t know the words we didn’t have to sing .We were supposed to do about 4 houses but we ended up doing 2. The candy cane came from Germany. It was first made about 250 years ago. Candy canes were first made as straight white sugar sticks. Sometime around 1900 red stripes were added. The stripes were either peppermint or wintergreen flavoring. The candy cane can be linked to different christian meanings. One of them was the candy canes shape. It was shaped like that to show kids how the shepherds directed the animals with their canes. Another is when you flip the candy cane it makes a j shape, they say that can stand for Jesus. About 1920 Bob Mccormack started making candy canes for his friends and family. Once they became popular he started his own business. His brother in law created a machine that turned straight candy canes into curved ones. Bob’s candies was bought and the still make candy.
