Sometimes, you have to sit back, take a breath, and relax. The band Blink-182 portrays this theme perfectly with their song “What’s My Age Again?” Blink-182 is one of the most infamous punk-rock bands, a genre that includes many songs about not giving a hoot. Not all of life is a hot, emotional, mess. Blink-182 started has a humble band, but over time has evolved into a major influence in modern music. Blink-182 was founded by guitarist and vocalist Tom Delonge, bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus, and drummer Scott Raynor, in 1992 in Poway, California. They toured widely in 1995 with their first album, Cheshire Cat. Afterwards, they signed on with MCA Records to produce their second album, Dude Ranch. In 2015, Tom DeLonge left the band, and was replaced with guitarist and vocalist Matt Skiba. The band’s most recent album, California, features heavier elements, and was released on July 1, 2016. One of Blink-182’s most popular songs, “What’s My Age Again?”, is an entire song that supports the idea of taking a break from the stress of the world. The lines “with many years ahead to fall in love/why would you wish that on me?” state that you should enjoy life while you can.
