When the phone rang at two in the morning, I knew it was my final chance, my last chance to choose between escaping and remaining sane, to run from all that was holding me back and dragging me down. Wrapping myself into a ball, slightly, I glanced around the area I was in. The room was dark, completely pitched in darkness and the silence that never failed to cause shivers up my spine. With a deep breath I leaned forward to get to my feet, to get out of this horrific place-but as soon as I did I froze. Feeling something cold and hard coil around my wrist I tentatively looked down. Breath clogged in my throat as I held back a scream. Amongst the millions of cuts, bruises and horrid scars that marred my body there was a pair of thick heavy silver cuffs snapping around my wrist. Chains were quickly forming to the cuffs disappearing into the darkness of the room.

A second ring chimed and echoed throughout the room. Gritting my teeth I snapped my wrists upward, knowingly temporarily pausing the formation of chains, and rolled to my feet. The door was in front of my, just a few feet away where there was a mere crack of light. Scrambling to a run I shakily bolted to the doors, my hand stretching to the handle. Blood pumped along my body faster and harder forcing my ears to hear only the beats of my heart. My legs felt paralyzed just as a pair of cuffs snapped around my ankles and the chains jingled. Snapping my arm forward in desperation I reached to grab the handle crawling towards the door. My fingers briefly brushed against the handle just as my hand grasped the handle.

"NO,"I screamed as the chins yanked backwards ripping my hand from the handle. The wind rushed past me as the chains jumbled together. An excruciating amount of pai...

"No,"the voice ordered, this time more softly. "Release yourself and allow me to take over. Only I can truly protect you. I will never hurt you, no one will ever hurt a hair on your head, never again-this I swear. Let me take over and it will all end. Please, trust me."

My mind, lulled by the calming words, fell into a daze, pulling me farther and farther from the situation at hand-almost as if I could trust once more. My chance to escape had slipped away once more, my only chance in a long while. Blinking slightly I felt the hands push me back into the ground, softly this time, as the hands removed themselves. I briefly saw a pair of eyes, like my own, before my own eyes shut. My body was lost as I no longer reigned in control. my body moved without my consent, in a way I was unknown to.

"No one will ever hurt us again, no one."
