Bees: Our Food Powerhouse
Imagine you are at farm. The farm has a variety of flowers and suddenly, a bee flies on a flower next to you! Your first instinct is to run away as far as you can from the flower and scream, right? However, what you didn’t think about is what the bees are actually doing. Bees are one of the most important and hard-working insects in the world. They help produce the food that’s lying on the table in front of you when eating a meal. Without the help of bees, there wouldn’t be the amount of food we have right now. Food comes from crops and bees pollinate most crops by moving pollen from flower to flower to allow them to mate. The flower then produces food, which is what we eat. Sadly, over three million colonies that are dead and most of them are because of the pesticides people use. However, to keep bees from becoming extinct, there are many ways to do that.
Bees are insects that pollinate about 90% of the crops. Therefore, they help produce most of the foods we eat right now. Without bees, grocery stores would be pretty empty; almost 50% of the food in it w...
