Babe Ruth “Person of the Year”
Ever wonder why the sport of baseball is popular all over the world in countries such as Cuba, China, and especially the United States? Well it would not be popular in the world if it were not for someone named Babe Ruth.There are reasons why Babe should be announce Time Person of the Year and these are why. The accomplishments he did in the sport of baseball developed on how the world saw the sport and later revolutionized into one of the most anticipated sports in the world. Babe slugging powers with with bat at the plate etiminated other teams because he hit so many home runs which created a new unique playing style, he brought attention within his fans which later revolutionized baseball and also he brought Americans in the United States hope and excitement because of his success during the Great Depression. The following is going to present why Babe Ruth is to be chosen Person of the Year.
Before we can actually talk about the success of Babe Ruth, here is some background and steps it took from him in becoming who he is. Babe Ruth’s actual name is George Herman Ruth Jr. named after his father. He was born on February 6, 1895 in Baltimore, Maryland to parents George Sr. and Kate (“Babe Ruth 1). The lack of parental guidance allowed George Jr. to become a bit unruly, often skipping school and causing trouble in the neighborhood and eventually when he turned 7 years old, his parents realized he needed a stricter environment and therefore sent him to the St. Mary’s Industrial School for Boys, a school run by Catholic monks from an order of the Xaverian Brothers (“Babe Ruth 1”). When baseball got popular later on, more sports such as football and soocer also developed in the United States. In other words, Babe Ruth did not only just help baseball but helped also popularize other sports all around the world within his contributions.
With the contributions that Babe Ruth brought to revolutionize baseball, help aided the United States, and help the survival of sports are the reason why he should be Time Person of the Year. He as an indiviual has brought and contributed alot to this nation and to sports that no other person has ever done in history. I personally learned much about his success and accomplishments that myself would really consider him a main influence in history.
