Authoritarian power is when someone expects people to follow the rules with no questions asked. The people under that authority aren’t given a choice to vote, or add in their opinion. They are just expected to go along with all of the set laws. This power is evident all throughout Lord of the Flies.
Authoritarian power applies the most to Jack. He never agreed with the idea of the conch, unless he had it. He never liked the idea of Ralph being chief, and he always thought hunting was more important. So, because of his beliefs, Jack always gathered his choir boys and did what he wanted. He even took them away from the fire to help him hunt, causing the signal fire to go out.
