There are many themes in the book To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee. However, one of the most important theme in this book is, bravery. Bravery, is shown in this book by different characters, and also in different ways. The most courageous character and most talked about character would be Atticus. Atticus, teaches his children to adapt themselves to the town which they live in. Where all the white people think they are better than all black. Black people are discriminated in the town where Atticus and his family live in. Atticus teaches his children how they should respect everyone. Maycomb is a boring community, with also a lot of racism, and is also a small town.
In this novel, a black man is accused of rape, Tom Robbinson. He is accused of raping a young woman named Mayela Ewell. Tom is defended in court by lawyer Atticus Finch, a white man. Atticus is not like the rest of the white people. On the other hand, he teaches his children that they should respect everyone equally. Atticus is trying to change all of the negative stereotypes in the community he lives in. That white people aren’t better than black. That they are all equal. …show more content…

Her father starts to have hate towards Tom, after her father found her daughter Mayella, and Tom kissing. When her father saw that, he took that to accuse him of “raping” his daughter. In the novel, this case gets very interesting when Atticus Finch a (white man), decide to defend Tom Robbinson (black male). Atticus thinks and argues, that it is unfair that Tom has to go to jail for something he didn't do, and Mayella knows perfectly that Tom did not rape her.
