Censorship is the attempt to stop a particular work from being printed, viewed, heard or taught in school. There are many types censorships like: moral, political, book, films, music and internet. It’s a very controversial topic because what one believes to be vulgar and unnecessary to demonstrate/share, another may not have an issue with. For instance, liberals would argue against censorship while conservatives favor it; but it is all about perspective. I believe that there should be censorship to certain material like television shows and children cartoons. The internet and media should not be censored. People should be able to handle the content of the internet as well as being old enough to use. For children, it may be positive because it’ll protect them from viewing explicit material. Exposing underage children to inappropriate and vulgar content can have negative effects on them (Censorship Does Both Harm, Good). For instance, the 90’s cartoon show “Rocko’s Modern Life; there was an episode where the main character was being seduced by his married neighbor. She was trying to trick him into seeing her naked. Children may be oblivious to the situation and find it entertaining but it is still inappropriate. What if the child decides to re-enact what the characters actions? In addition, the violent shows that are aired gradually desensitize children. Show like Tom and Jerry, The Simpson and The Mutant Teenage Ninja Turtles play a role in this. When someone gets hurts, instead of being concerned the children will laugh and joke about it. They’re more prone to violent behavior. “Experts conclude that kids who watch cartoons full of violence tend to be nervous, aggressive and belligerent.
