Lord Of The Flies, by William Golding, is a story about a group of young adult boys who get stranded on an island by a plane crash. In Lord Of The Flies there are two significant leaders, Ralph ,Jack and Piggy, who split up in two groups. Once the groups are formed the islands starts deteriorating. There is a lot disagreement, one side is civil while, the other is ignorant and savages. After the disagreement between the groups their relationships got more serious and eventually they became such savages that they were blood thirsty. During their killing spree two humans died and one wild pig. If Golding decided to have kids and adults there would be no deaths and very limited disagreement. One character that had an effect on all their behaviors was Piggy. Piggy effect on the society was that he was civil, and calm. Throughout the book Golding emphasizes on how peaceful piggy is. But the boys see that as a bad thing; they mostly see that he’s not fat, weak, and civil. So they call piggy bad names, and they gar far enough to beat him for being different. “He took a step, and able at last to hit someone, stuck his fist into Piggy’s stomach… “You would, would you? Fatty!”’ (71) This passage was significant because it explains the entire book, and a lot of societies all in one sentence. This passage depicts that that societies disrespect people just because they are different. If they had a role model around them they would follow him and they wouldn’t splinter and they would’ve thrived. If they had authority in their presence, that person or thing would keep the community in order and there would be no tragedies. The society was not diverse, the only diversity they had was piggy. Piggy was different in this book, and the boys we no in civilization for so long that they discriminated and even killed Piggy because he was different from everyone else. There was no main leader to keep the society in order, so everyone went off by themselves and did what they want, which resulted in disagreement, which eventually turned into savagery. Lord of the flies directly relates to the real world because the society on the island depicts the structure of every other society. The social structure for any other society is the strong, the followers, the brains and the useless. This is why the society deteriorated because there were to structure, Jack’s and Ralph’s.
