Cosmopolitan Magazine reflects social expectations of being feminine, by tapping into their readers insecurities to make revenue for their company and the companies they feature. Cosmopolitan displays the importance of being made up and attaining a perfect appearance to be desirable. As well Cosmopolitan educates women on how to properly please a man sexually, and put him first so she can keep him interested and satisfied. And lastly Cosmopolitan expresses that woman struggle to be taken serious in the work place.

For example, “Master the Sex-th Sense” an article solely devoted to every sense in sex; touch, sight, sound, scent, taste. Throughout the two page article a man and woman are shown half clothed and fondling each other. Each sense category gives detailed foreplay and sex games for women to perform for and on their man. For example, “Suck on an ice pop, then suck on his pop. It’ll be cool (literally) for him to feel a brand new temperature.” Key words are used in this raunchy phrase, his and him. In all of the examples there is nothing listed for both sexes to take part in for equal satisfaction. Making it apparent to women that it is their job to perform these crazy sex acts in order to please a man. In addition, a small blurb is placed on an article about the anthropology of men, “What time he wants you the most, it’s sex o’clock.” According to a study 65% of men say at 10 p.m. So not only do women need to do certain acts to please a man, they also need to do it at time when he wants too.
