Usually in Ancient Greece plays and writings, woman are portrayed as less then and never as a strong feminist role. A feminist is someone who supports the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. In Sophocles’ Antigone, Antigone uses one of her only rights to bury her dead brother to defy Creon’s unjust laws and to claim power in the world of men making this a clear act of feminism. In the play it is obvious that there is gender inequality and many of the woman including Ismene, Antigone’s sister, give in to this idea.
