In advocating independent thoughts and rebellion, Criss Jami proclaimed “If you build the guts to do something, anything, then you better save enough to face the consequences.” Individuals tend to follow what authority figures tell them, with little questioning or disagreement. Despite this, everyone beliefs are different. There is bound to be a person who resists due to the fact that they dislike a rule or finds the system unfair. A form of rebellion will have a high possibility of growing if other individuals don't obey those with authority. Anyone who refuses to conform or even abide by rules will always face consequences. Sophocles play “Antigonê” teaches us that when standing your ground, prepare for the consequences and always stay loyal to what you believe in.
Antigon is an audacious woman who lives in Thebes, the city of ancient Greece. During these times women were to stay home and were considered inferior to men. Ancient greek women were to listen to men. Antigone wasn't docile like the other greek woman of that era, like her sister Ismene(pg 727,47-48). The courageous lady blatantly refused to follow King Creon decree of leaving her brother Polyneices to rot, because it would go against the laws made by the gods(pg727,33). The play Antingone teaches us that when standing up for what we believe in, we should stay loyal to it. Antigone's believed that the laws made by the divine should not be ignored, the laws of mortals were insignificant against the gods. Ismene attempted to reason with her sister(pg727,39-50), trying to stray her away from performing a formal burial their brother, because their ruler decree. Antigone was completely determined to deify the law of the king, she loves her brother and desperately wants t...

...considered a traitor. Antigone loved him dearly and honored the gods to much to allow her brother to decay away against the elements. She was determined to bury her beloved brother. The play also teaches us to prepare for the consequences if you're going to stand your ground against anything. An individual should know what they are getting into and what the possible out comes could be. Whether the outcome is positive or negative. King Creon was not prepared, at the very end he regretted everything he's done. The ruler suffered greatly because he was not prepared. Antigone stood her ground and refused to be the ground that people walk on, she didn't crower, she stood up for her beliefs.
